Cheapest method would be to make use of the "FreizeitTicket Mainz - Köln" which is a day return ticket from Mainz to Cologne for EUR 29,00.

www.bahn.de the official page of DB (German Rail). You have a variety of lines in between Frankfurt and Koeln. High speed trains are about € 50 one way with a travel time of about 60 minutes. If travelling on a weekend, you can use the "Schoenes Wochenende" (have a nice weekend ticket) or combine with regional tickets. Best look at the page. It is also in English. |
