First, flying is incredibly safe. serious accidents are very rare because of the numerous checks and procedures meant to ensure safety. There realy isn't anything to worry about. Even if there is a problem with the plane halfway there (which almost never happens), the system that breaks will typically have a backup system. All ocean going planes have more than one engine and all can keep flying on one. An airliner NEVER loses both at the same time. You won't even notice anything. Even then, if the plane were to crash (again, this is one in a hundred million odds, really really rare) it won't just plow into the ocean. The pilot will guide it into a fairly easy water landing with well trained rescue already on the way. You'll float around for a while until they pick you up. You're completely safe.Everybody involved in your flight, from traffic controllers to mechanics to flight attendants is there to give you a comfortable, safe trip. There won't be a single problem. Even if there is, you'll be fine so enjoy your flight. A trip like that is a great experience. If you're flying during the day, you get to see one of the most beautiful views anybody ever witnesses. The Pacific is amazing. Enjoy your flight, and have fun in Hawaii.

All you have to do is just read a book, and kick it. They will be serving some food, so make sure you have a drink or two. and the last and most important thing...DON'T LOOK OUT THE WINDOW (I personally think it's cool to look out)

Take some noise-cancelling headphones, an mp3 player, and sleep all the way... and just relax, getting nervous won't make any difference to the flight for the better or the worse!

    Hi Aloha -

I agree with Victor and especially Atou. There is no need to worry. There are backups for the backups, and all those pilots are very, very skilled. I personally think that you should get a window seat. That way you can understand where you are with respect to your surroundings instead of guessing. It's usually uncertainty and confusion, not seeing the ground at a distance, that causes worry in the air. A book is also a good idea. If you run into some cloudy weather, you can always close the shades. Remember that the aircraft is designed to easily withstand 10 times the worst turbulence that you will ever encounter. So if it gets a little bumpy, remember that it feels worse than it really is. The pilots get so they barely notice it. Keep your seat belt fastened whenever you are seated, and you will avoid unnecessary and unexpected motion during turbulence, in case you encounter any. Pilots always keep their seat belts fastened. You will hear some noises on final approach to landing - these are normal things like flaps and landing gear being lowered. After they are lowered, the pilot will increase the power, because he has more drag to overcome. This also normal. Don't be frightened - relax and enjoy your trip. It will be fun, including the flying part.
